CLASSICAL KIDS

Virtual Student Matinee

SPAC has teamed up with our partners at The Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet to bring two student-focused, educational, and entertaining video performances for teachers to stream for their students in lieu of an in-school presentation this year. After students have watched one of these virtual performances, they will be able to register online with a parent/guardian to receive a free student lawn pass. This Student Lawn Pass will be mailed to schools to be distributed in the fall of 2021.

The SPAC Student Lawn Pass will grant the student, plus an accompanying adult, free lawn admission to all ballet and orchestra performances at SPAC until they graduate high school!

Students who would have qualified for the Classical Kids program at your school last year, but who missed this opportunity due to the COVID-19 shutdown, will also have the opportunity to earn a student lawn pass this year.

This program is only available to schools currently enrolled in the Classical Kids Program. If your school is currently not enrolled, please contact the SPAC Education Team at education@spac.org.

SPAC’s Classical Kids Program is able to serve schools located in the following NY counties: Albany, Essex, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Rensselaer, Warren,

and Washington.

Content available to stream on demand at a time of your choosing from May 10 - May 28, 2021. You may access content for your classroom multiple times. One registration per classroom required.

TEACHER GUIDE

FOUR EASY STEPS TO PARTICIPATING IN THE VIRTUAL CLASSICAL KIDS PROGRAM!

1. REGISTER

First, you must register online for the virtual Classical Kids program, and we will send you the link to The Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet video performances.

2. STUDY MATERIALS (OPTIONAL)

Interactive content was created and is available to enhance your students’ knowledge of the performances in advance of the viewing window. This material is provided on the registration page as an optional, added resource. We encourage you to check it out and share with your students!

3. WATCH

A week prior to the start of the viewing window, you will receive an email with the links for one (or BOTH, if you choose!) of the virtual performances, as well as a PDF to share with parents, explaining how they can sign their student up for a SPAC Student Lawn Pass.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Each video will be available FOR 2 1/2 WEEKS ONLY for you to stream in your school classroom and/or virtual classroom.

  • Only one of the two performances needs to be viewed by students in order for them to qualify for a SPAC Student Lawn Pass.

  • The virtual performance links can be shared, but only with other teachers, students and/or guardians in your district. If you know of other schools who would like to receive this program, please tell a teacher or administrative staff member from that school to contact the SPAC education department at education@spac.org. They will not be able to register online for the program until they reach out to us directly.

4. SEND PDF TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Once your students have watched the Classical Kids video, they will be eligible to sign up online to receive their free student lawn pass in the fall. Students will only be able to get the link to register for their pass from the PDF that will be provided on the viewing page.
